Dez Bryant enjoys inspiring kids

The Daily Oklahoman has a good interview with the former Panther. He said he recently had a chance to give some young fans some advice:

And I talked to all of them a little bit and let them know that getting in trouble isn’t good and if one of your friends is getting into trouble, it doesn’t mean you’re a punk if you walk away. I just gave them a little speech.

Jermichael Finley catches two passes

The Superior Telegram says the former Lumberjack made a big impact in Green Bay's 17-0 win over Cleveland, but it wasn't his numbers that did it:

Yet, Finley's presence as an athlete and as an integral part of the game plan was very much evident.

"I could feel him out there," a personnel director for another National Football League team said at halftime. "He's going to create some matchup problems. It's all about matchups at that position. Look at Dallas when they got (Martellus) Bennett to go with (Jason) Witten. Then they had two (threats)."

Kynan Forney out in front

Despite an injury and taking time off to be with his new baby, it appears the former Dragon will be the starting guard for Week One, The San Diego Union-Tribune said:

“He had his best practice when things got speeded up,” Turner said of Forney. “He's very physical and has very good athletic ability.”
Forney, who returned to practice full-go Wednesday after having his neck jammed Monday, has been strong and mobile in camp. A starter for 88 games in Atlanta before the Falcons released him last September, Forney was always the front-runner. Vasquez was going to have to assert himself in exhibition games, something he'll get a late start on now.

Dez Bryant happy to be back on the field

The Daily Oklahoman has a Q&A with Dez Bryant, where he says he fears nothing but his girlfriend:

JC: How did you keep yourself sane and get through it?

DB: Coach Brewer, he let me help out with the young guys who were trying to learn the plays. That helped out a little bit, but at the same time, I was still down and wanted to be out there.

Kynan Forney fighting for starting job

The North County Times has a good little article on the former Dragons' short career in San Diego:

What many didn't know was that Forney had quite a resume. He was a seven year starter with the Atlanta Falcons, and was named as a first alternate to the 2005 Pro Bowl. The 6-foot-3, 302-pounder is known as a ferocious run blocker and a tough guy, characteristics that kept him in a Chargers uniform and earned a new contract.

"(That) gave me a sense of urgency," Forney said. "It renewed me a little bit to know that they want me, they believe in me and I'm going to give it my best."

Coach says Dez Bryant is a Heisman candidate

Mike Gundy says the former Panther is one of the top eight players in the nation, according to The Tulsa World:

“I think Dez has played well enough, and has competed and played well enough in big games, that he has earned the right to be a Heisman candidate,” Gundy said. “There are probably six or eight (players) across the country that have earned that right. For his position, what he is able to do and how he can change a game, he deserves to be in that race."

Packers like Jermichael Finley in the 2-minute drill

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel has more on the improvement of the former Lumberjack:

Considered a little too big for his britches as a rookie last season, Finley has started to pop up in training camp practices like an autumn crocus, giving his coaches and the fans who line Ray Nitschke Field a glimpse of what they hope to see as the season progresses.

"I like (No.) 88," quarterback Aaron Rodgers said. "He's a good player."
