Clint Dempsey doesn't want boss to leave

The former Dragon tells Metro he wants his coach to stay:

'I enjoy playing for him and I've been lucky really that all the managers I've had have been good – from Steve Nicol and Paul Mariner at New England Revolution to Bob Bradley, the USA coach.

'I like the staff we have here – they do a good job of preparing us for each game. We have a good shape and are a hard team to break down.'

Damion James scores 18

The former Dragon scored 18 in Texas' 73-41 win over Western Carolina, according to The Houston Chronicle.

Damion James loves Nacogdoches

The former Kennard Lady Tiger scored 10 in Texas Wesleyan's 70-52 loss to Rogers State, according to KTUL.

Damion James story explains tough life

The Austin American-Statesman has an excellent article on the former Dragon and his childhood:

Williams admitted she was not the best mother.

"I was young myself," Katrina Williams said. "I was still trying to party, run the streets instead of raising my kids. I regret things, like not taking the kids to the park or signing them up for T-ball. I was still acting like a kid myself."

James was reared mostly by his maternal grandmother, Katherine Williams. She lived in a trailer next to Katrina's apartment. James would visit his mother and take snacks back to the trailer. Katherine and Katrina argue over who really is James' mother.

Nikki Greene gets approval to dunk

The Daily Collegian has an excellent article on the former Diboll Ladyjack, in which the Penn State coach says it's OK for her to dunk, even in warmups:

The coach said she would even be OK with Greene dunking in warm-ups, despite the fact that doing so results in a technical foul.

"I told her I'll take the technical," Washington said. "Go ahead and dunk it, get the crowd hyped up in the beginning. We'll spot them two points and lock down on defense, we'll be fine."

Robert Ray has bad outing

The former Panther gave up three runs, two earned, on four hits, including a home run, and a walk while striking out five, plus he was thrown out, according to Examiner:

Wilin Rosario followed and was hit by Ray's fourth pitch on a 3-0 count at which point Ray was ejected from the game. The umpire most likely thought he hit Rosario on purpose since he had taken Ray deep in his first at-bat. No real way of knowing if it was intentional or not, but in Ray's defense it was the fourth pitch of the at-bat and the first two, according to the MLB.com Gameday, were away.

Davidson coach impressed by Damion James

The Austin American-Statesman says the Davidson coach had good things to say about the former Dragon following a scrimmage:

"I was very impressed with the way Damion James played," McKillop said.

McKillop said James and sophomore guard Varez Ward set a tone for the team. Ward played both guard spots — the point and off the ball.

"They both scored in a variety of ways," McKillop said. "They were tough to stop."

Nikki Greene adjusts to college life

The Daily O'Collegian has a fun story on Nikki Greene and her freshman teammates adjusting to college life:

Last month's early snowfall was something new for Greene as she recalls her teammates getting into a snowball fight after practice.

Coming from a small high school in Diboll, Texas, Greene said she got maybe a centimeter of snow back home.

This much practice is new to her too.
