With Sam Houston's Nick Zaleski on first base with two outs in the top of the ninth, Hines flagged down Jon Reed's hard-hit grounder, just to the left of second base.
Hines threw the ball with his backhand to second baseman Jeffrey Kello to get the force on Zaleski.
SFA beat Sam Houston, 3-2.
